A real community effort as lots of people contributed to making the  Winter Wonderland in Parklands Woods a lovely event for children and families. The Children's Hospice EACH benefited by donations of £217.00 and lots of (washed) cuddly toys.

I managed to get a trip with my friends to Scotland fitted in during the brief time in the summer when there was more freedom around Covid restrictions. We wild camped for 5 days around Loch Lomond - Kit Thomas

On the shortest day of the year my beautiful husband sparkled brightly (I do so like him in a bow tie!) Our wedding was truly a moment of joy shared with lovely friends from this wonderful community of ours;  they even helped out by reading aloud the words from our families. It was a magical evening; packed-full of poetry, laughter, candlelight, food and wine (lots of wine!).
Our wedding was smaller in scale than we had initially planned but it did
not fall short of love or meaning; indeed the intimacy made it incredibly
special for us. In the heart of darkness, there was this beautiful light and
it was an evening we will always treasure and keep close to our hearts.
Thank you to everyone who wished us well and thank you David for being you. You did us proud!

The Ufford PUNCH committee has been extra busy this last year filling our monthly magazine with more content because so many social activities went by the wayside. Our committee & editorial meetings have moved online as a result.

At Christmas we had a virtual secret Santa meeting to replace our Christmas drinks and curry night. Everyone was charged with the brief to re-use, re-gift or create a gift for one of the other committee members anonymously and we all opened our gifts together on zoom. It was really lovely! Also, it was quite fun for me to walk the village with a sack full of presents to deliver the gifts to the house of each committee member!

Ufford 2 Friendly Bridge Club/ Zoom & Bridge base on line

We have been fortunate that Mike Fisher who normally teaches bridge at the Community Hall agreed to organise on line duplicate bridge every fortnight for Ufford 2 Friendly Bridge Club.

24 of our 42 members braved the technology and every other Wednesday afternoon we Zoom alongside BBO (Bridge Base On -line).

The advantage of on line is that we all play the same hands at the same time and can see how we are performing as we go along- maybe not so good if you are having a losing streak!

Whilst we all look forward to meeting and playing with real cards and all meeting again it’s been a great opportunity to carry on playing bridge and having a chat with everyone in between the hands and at the beginning and end of each session.                                                                    Adrian Smith
