Windows in the Woods

Parklands Woods was requisitioned in WWII by the army to camouflage their tanks and guns. Whilst these have long gone, the concrete bases of some of the barracks can still be found.

Ivy-clad trees have grown up around one of the bases and this has created a delightful green room that is often filled with bird song. The Art Festival Team felt that this area deserved to be brought to everyone's attention so we decided to create an art installation with a peaceful seating area with some "stained glass" panels for people to enjoy.

The Windows in the Woods installation will be open throughout the Arts Festival weekend - follow the signs and enjoy sitting a while in this lovely space.

POSTPONED

Sadly the gusty winds are just too high making the large sail-like windows unsafe and noisy - hardly the peaceful place of reflection that we had envisaged.  We're developing ideas to hold it in the future ... more on this later.
